Accenture, Barclays Capital, Deloitte & Rolls-Royce. Just a few of the huge names that we’ve developed special partnerships with.
Alpha Kappa Psi is Manchester University’s premier business fraternity, combining the best of the British and American styles of University societies. With a vast range of talented members in degree disciplines from Aerospace Engineering to PPE and Law to Mathematics, we run first class events with the biggest names to suit all career aspirations.
Regular socials are also a major part of our calendar; just a few from this year include a weekend in Keighley, a spring BBQ, sky diving for charity, karaoke sessions and fantastic dining at our semi-annual banquet.
And the US link? Throw in to the mix scholarships, subsidised trips to the US, close links with AKPsi groups across America and Canada and an international focus on professionalism and personal development. AKPsi is definitely an experience not to be missed.
Our primary activity is organising professional business events for our members with top local and national firms. Our main areas of focus are accountancy, banking, consultancy, law, management & media. These sessions are always exciting and different, and are frequently followed by networking events with their graduate recruitment teams.
Previously we have worked with companies including Accenture, Barclays Capital, Deloitte, Halliwells, IBM, Lloyds Banking Group and Pinsent Masons. And the future is looking very bright indeed; we have plans to work with many new associates including Credit Suisse and HSBC - and have others also in the planning stage.
To build on our goal of improving the employability of our graduates, we have recently introduced a mentoring system that groups together members with similar career aspirations. As many of our senior members and alumni have worked/interned with major companies, including those with whom we work closely and others such as Citi, Deutsche Bank, Tesco and Rolls-Royce, we are able to share knowledge and give help to newer members seeking to enter these business area.

The Manchester Chapter was founded in 2001 and is the only one located outside of North America. Membership at present is approximately 100 strong and is led by the Executive Committee.
We maintain an extensive alumni network across a range of industries and contact between current members and alumni is very frequent. The Chapter was co-founded by Kashif Haroon, Chris Danbolt and Olusola Adebusuyi, and currently our Chapter Advisor is Dave Wilding. As a Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, we are regulated by the central AKPsi administration in America and are required to maintain high standards in everything we do. We produce an Annual Chapter Report (much like a company report) and have strict policies and procedures to follow. This gives us structure and helps us to function as a professional organisation. Each Chapter has its own unique name - ours is the Sigma Upsilon Phi Chapter.
AKPsi International was founded at New York University in 1904. It has grown to include over 300 chapters and has many notable alumni, including leaders of multinational corporations, US Presidents and renowned philanthropists.
